The title says it all. I post an original photo (nearly) every day, and write a few comments on each one. They're not all great photos, and they don't all show perfect photographic technique (I'm way too fond of chance and happy accidents to always aim for perfection). I hope they are all interesting.

Uptown
I shot this photo today under the el tracks at Broadway and Leland in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Uptown is a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, although it still maintains a grungy feel.
Uptown in Chicago has been a classic skid row for about 50 years, even with the recent gentrification. Before that, however, it was a wealthy area, and has a lot of beautiful old historic buildings in desperate need of restoration. It also is a big entertainment district, with famous jazz clubs like the Green Mill and old theater buildings now hosting live music.

I like the motion of the car.
The downtown area of Oakland, CA is now referred to as "Uptown" due to gentrification. However, it will always be downtown to me.

It totally sounds like a place I'd enjoy visiting!
