Lost Lake

Lost Lake at Mt. Hood in Oregon, shot last summer. It was freezing that day, cloudy with a cold wind blowing off of the lake. Still, it was beautiful.

Donation!

Thanks to those who bought prints in my Japan disaster relief fundraiser. I just made a $200.00 donation to Doctors Without Borders, which is the amount raised from the three prints sold, plus an additional $50 I added.

You can still buy prints if you wish, and all proceeds will be donated. Just follow the link above.

Collage?

I was working on collages in my studio, and photographed some of the paper cutouts where they happened to by lying on my table.

Sale! Buy Prints For Japan Disaster Reiief

A reminder-I'm still selling prints and donating all the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders for Japan disaster relief. Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization. They provide aide in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, while operating independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. They have already send a medical team to Japan, and will need funds to continue work there.

I will be selling ten prints. Each print will be approx. 7.5 X 10 inches, unmatted, on 8.5 X 11 inch paper stock (prints may vary in size-many of the images on my blog are square, which would mean a 7.5 X 7.5 inch print). They will be printed using archival pigments on Epson glossy paper, and signed by me. The cost is $50 per print, the entirety of which will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

I highly encourage you to participate. Here's what to do:

1.  Go to my Photo A Day blog.
2.  Choose any image I've posted to the blog. I've been running the blog for just short of three years, so there are plenty of images to choose from.
3.  Email me the following info (you can find my email address in my profile):
-the title and date of the post with the image you'd like a print of (please list at least one alternate image, just in case). If a post has more than one image, let me know which one you want.
-the address you'd like the print shipped to.

If you're one of the first ten people to respond, I will send you a return message with info on how to make payment to my Paypal account. Once I receive your payment, I will send you your print.

If this works as I hope it will, the end result will be a $500 donation to Doctors Without Borders. It will also result in your receiving a piece of art.

Now go buy art and support emergency relief!

The Big Orange Splot

True confession: The only reason I posted this photo is so that I could title the post after one of my favorite Daniel Pinkwter books. Shot on a lovely warm day last October.

Infrared Train Station

This is the train station on 111th St. in Chicago. I shot this photo last summer using infrared film in my Holga camera. It turned out much better than I expected it to.

I shot this photo last summer in the Japanese Garden, located in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. You could own a print of this, by donating to my Japan Relief Fundraiser.

Japan Relief Fundraiser

I'm sure you're aware of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In the past, I've made donations when tragedies have struck. Now, I'm trying something a little different.

To encourage donations beyond what I myself give, I will be selling prints and donating all the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders. Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization. They provide aide in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, while operating independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. Shadow Portraits VIII

Here's the last of the shadow portraits (for now). This one was shot about three years ago. I intensified the yellow of the arrow a little in Photoshop, otherwise, it's unedited.

Shadow Portraits VII

I'm almost out of these. Tomorrow I'll post the last of these shadow portraits (until I shoot more). This one was shot last fall a few blocks from my house.

Shadow Portraits VI

This is not the time of the year when anyone wants to see anything do do with snow, but oh well. Shot with my Holga.

Shadow Portraits V

The long-anticipated beginning of my spring break has finally arrived. To celebrate, here's one of my favorite shadow portraits. It was shot in San Francisco a couple of years ago, while descending from the top of Russian Hill. If you look to the top of the photo, you can see one of the famous San Francisco cable cars.

Shadow Portraits II

Today's shadow portrait was shot last Halloween night. I don't think it's that interesting a photo, but it does have my shadow in it.

Shadow Portraits

Sometimes when I'm out shooting, I'll capture my shadow as part of the image. I've posted a couple of these before, most recently about a month ago. Over the next few days, I'll post more of these shadow portraits.

March In Chicago

Ah, March in Chicago. It was unseasonably warm today (near 60 degrees), with spotty sun. The afternoon brought more clouds; about an hour and a half before sunset it was dark gray outside. Then the rain started. It poured for several hours. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 25 degrees colder than it was today, so there's a potential for iced over streets and sidewalks. Sounds like a stay indoors and drink Market Spice tea kind of day.
