Lombard Street

About a month ago I posted a photo taken out the dining room window of my sister's apartment in San Francisco. Here's a similar view. I was standing on the corner of Grant and Lombard, about halfway up Telegraph Hill, when I shot this photo looking down (and back up) Lombard St.

Follow the street up to the top of the photo. That's the famous part of Lombard St., the part known as the crookedest street in the world. As I mentioned in the post I linked to above, in reality, it's not even the most crooked street in San Francisco. That honor actually goes to Vermont St. in Portero Hill, a neighborhood with significantly less tourist traffic than Russian Hill, where the crooked part of Lombard St. is located. Oh well. Lombard St. is still pretty crooked.
