Oops, missed a couple of days. Too busy with other things the first day, then last night our internet was down for a few hours.  Back on track now, so here's more abstracty goodness.

How about a few days of abstract photos? I don't remember what this is a photo of, or when exactly I shot it. I guess that's kind of the point.

New Collage

Here's a new collage, completed a few days ago.  Most of my collages I post on Lightbender, my other blog, but it's fun to show them here occasionally as well.

Plant

This is a pretty plant, but I have no idea what it's called. It grows wild in this area (I pull up several of them in my yard every year), and can get quite large. I've seen it at least 6 feet tall. If anyone lnows what it is, let me know.

Today was cool and sunny in Chicago. Hopefully it means the beginning of Fall weather. Here's a photo shot two years ago on the University of Chicago campus on a nice Fall day.

Shop Window

Shot last June with my reversed-lens Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera. I shot a few rolls of film today with that camera for a project I'm working on. I'll probably post some of the photos here once I gat it all developed and scanned.

Wall

OK, it's admittedly kind of boring, but I actually enjoy boring photos sometimes. Shot with my Holga camera in Blue Island, IL, last June.

Reflection Transfer

This is a Polaroid transfer of a photo shot in Blue Island, IL showing a reflection in a shop window. I don't remember when I shot the photo, but the transfer was made sometime during the winter of 2007-2008.

Another Chinese Phone Booth

Here's another Chinese-styled phone booth. This one's in San Francisco's Chinatown. As you can see, it hasn't been shown the same loving care that the one in Victoria, BC I posted yesterday has, but it is just as photogenic in it's own way, and it feels like San Francisco.

Chinese Phone Booth

Shot in a touristy, but pleasant Chinatown in Victoria, British Columbia this past July. I'm not sure it even has a phone in it, it may just be there because it looks cool. If you could still find a phone booth in China, I doubt it would look like this.

Retro Bowl

This isn't digital infrared, this was shot last June with infrared film in a 35mm SLR camera. I discovered some infrared film in a box in my studio closet I had forgotten about, and decided to shoot some. I like this photo, and had plans to shoot more mid-century vernacular architecture in infrared, but found upon developing the two rolls I shot that my ancient SLR camera is developing a sticky shutter. I know from experience that repairing it would cost more than the camera is worth, so I moved on to other creative pursuits while deciding what to do. I like the mid-century architecture idea, however, and would love to go shoot in the Westlake neighborhood of Daly City, CA. I'd probably do that in digital infrared-I don't want to drag a heavy film SLR (and a tripod) halfway across the country.

Rainy Bay

A photo taken in the Ferry Building in San Francisco on a cool and rainy afternoon. There's a farmer's market around this building that makes me want to weep. The farmer's markets here in Chicago are a miserable joke in comparison.

Breakfast

I shot this in downtown Chicago almost exactly two years ago. I had spent the day wandering around shooting for a project that never came to fruition. Got some interesting photos out of it, however.

New Collage

A brand new collage, finished just a couple of hours ago. First collage in well over a month, I needed some time away from making them and to work on other things. If you can think of a title for this, let me know.
