The Fair

I shot this photo at a parking lot carnival in Ann Arbor in 1996. I was using a color saturated film which is no longer produced. I love the intense blue of the sky in that photo.

Forgotten Collage

This is sort of a collage in progress that I was working on a few weeks ago. I couldn't figure out what else it needed so I shelved it. Now I'm busy with other things (end of semester grading overload, preparing for an exhibit of my work), so I'm not making much of anything at the moment. Looking at this now, I kind of like it. I might have to see if I can find the pieces of this collage and work on it some more.

Wall Of Plushies

Here's another photo from the C2E2 comic convention I attended yesterday. One of the vendors was selling small plushies, many of which looked suspiciously bootlegged.

C2E2

I spent most of today at C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo). Yes, I know I complained about being busy in yesterday's post, but I had already scheduled this event before a bunch of other things came up, and I decided I still wanted to go.

I'm really not a comic fan, I never read them as a child. I read the occasional graphic novel, but that's about as far as my interest goes. This event was billed as a 'comics and entertainment expo', but it was still about 85% comics related. I enjoyed myself, even if I didn't relate to the proceedings on the same level as the friends I was with.

At The Bridge

I'm just entering the overly busy end lap of the school year. This one is shaping up to be particularly busy. In addition to all the grading, critiques, exams, wrapping up, etc. at work, I have to prepare a bunch of materials for a new course I'm writing, and I have a show to prepare for which opens a couple of weeks after the semester ends (I'll post details later). All this means there's a chance that posts might be a little less frequent than usual for a few weeks. Or maybe not, we'll see.

I really love today's photo. It was shot about ten years ago. That's my sister and her husband on the bench, and my other sister taking a photo of them. My mom is standing to the left, and of course that's the Mackinac Bridge in the background. We were enjoying a rare family weekend together, much of the family having recently scattered around the country (my sister and her husband to San Francisco, me to Chicago).

Button

This is a close up of a walk signal sign. I shot it a couple of weeks ago in Chicago's River North neighborhood.

Michigan, Early Spring

I shot this a few weeks ago while visiting my mom in mid Michigan. Mid March in mid Michigan is kind of starkly pretty.

Vittorio

I don't remember too much about this photo. I shot it sometime in the late '80's. The dummy belonged to my cousin, he named it Vittorio.

Yarn

Here's a photo of spools of yarn in my mom's studio. I shot it when I was visiting her a couple of weeks ago.

By the way, the last photo I wanted to post here I posted to Lightbender, my other blog, by mistake. It was late, I was tired. You can take a look at it there.

I shot this yesterday afternoon, while on a walk enjoying the wonderful weather.

Feminine?

I shot this photo of faded posters in a Chinatown shop window a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't until I was looking at the photos later that I noticed "Fe-Mo-9" written in the lower left. I find that kind of amusing.
