Oops, I missed a day. I have a good reason: My kitchen remodeling was completed on Saturday, and I spent hours reorganizing things. As a result, I was too tired to post. I love my new kitchen!

Channelling Rothko?

I made it back to The Museum of Science and Industry today for the Jim Henson exhibit (see yesterday's post). The exhibit was interesting, although the adults seemed to be more into it than the kids. Shot these photos in a light mixing exhibit elsewhere in the museum. That first photo does look quite a bit like a Rothko.

Osaka Garden

I went to the Museum of Science and Industry today to see the Jim Henson exhibit. Unfortunately, it was sold out for the day, so I took a walk through the Osaka Garden, located right behind the museum in Jackson Park. Although it was cold, the garden was lovely in the winter, with a light covering of fresh snow bright against the gray skies.

Cal's Liquors

I've never actually set foot in this place, but my friend Dan has. His band has played there, and he told me that it's pretty nasty. Nice sign, though.

Color!

In the gray of winter, I miss the colors found the rest of the year. This was shot last fall on the University of Chicago campus.

Cute Chimneys

I shot this a couple of years ago from the kitchen of my sister's old apartment about 2/3 of the way up Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. I love the ceramic caps on the chimneys. They look like little houses.

Henderson Train Tracks

Just before the new year, I posted this photo of the building you see in this photo, an old grain elevator in Henderson, MI. Today's photo was taken at the same time, using my toy Holga camera.

Kitchen

This might not be the best photo, but it describes my life at the moment. My kitchen is being remodeled, this is what it looks like as of about an hour ago. For the next several weeks I'll be subsisting on cans of soup and other simple foods warmed on a hot plate in the dining room. It will be worth it in the end, however.

Infrared Bridge

A bridge on Harlem Ave. in Worth, IL, shot in digital infrared early last summer when I was figuring out how to make it work. I like the blurred cars rushing by.

I took my Holga camera outside after the first big snow of the winter. This was shot while standing in my front yard, aiming straight up.

Ginsberg And Sinclair

John Sinclair and Allen Ginsberg, Adrian College, Adrian MI, April, 1989. I was completely in love with the Beat Generation writers at the time, so it was exciting to see them read and have books signed. That's my book John Sinclair is holding. Allen Ginsberg had just finished signing it.
