The title says it all. I post an original photo (nearly) every day, and write a few comments on each one. They're not all great photos, and they don't all show perfect photographic technique (I'm way too fond of chance and happy accidents to always aim for perfection). I hope they are all interesting.

Moonrise, Ft. Bragg, California
While it doesn't come close to the famous Ansel Adams photo with a similar title, I like this photo. We had just finished watching the sunset over the Pacific (and I had just lost my prescription sunglasses, which I didn't discover until the following morning), and on the way back to the car noticed this beautiful moonrise over a grassy field. Unlike Ansel Adams, I have no idea what the luminance of the moon is, so I bracketed my shots.

A Nice Piece of News
Today I received the following e-mail:
"Just a quick note to let you know, one or more of your images will be
included in the upcoming issue of F-Stop Magazine.
Thanks for contributing!"
F-Stop is a well done online photography magazine. I submitted some nighttime shots of a fair, and apparently they liked them. These photos were shot on Agfa Ultra film, a color saturated film which is no longer being manufactured.
I'll let you know once the issue with my photos goes online.

Tidal Pools
These photos were taken while exploring the tidal pools at Enderts Beach in Redwoods National Park. I love tide pooling. I'd only done it once before this trip (in Olympic National Park a few years ago). I don't live anywhere near the ocean, but if I did, this would be a regular activity.
In the first photo, notice how the rock at the top is covered in mussels. That was cool.

Bay Bridge
I just finished putting this panorama together in Photoshop a few minutes ago. I like how it came out, so now it's today's photo.
These photos were taken at the Ferry building in San Francisco on the Fourth of July. They have a great farmer's market there, it gets really busy at times. I wish I was eating one of the organic peaches I bought there right now!

Marin Headlands
Here are a couple more photos of one of the bunkers at the Marin Headlands. I took these photos a couple of weeks ago when I was visiting there. The top photo shows the outside of the structure, the bottom photo is inside. I find graffiti interesting, but I generally don't like to see it on historical buildings. It looks good here, however. These old bunkers are decaying, and the graffiti gives them an urban look, a reminder that while in a seemingly remote place with amazing natural beauty, you are only a few minutes away from San Francisco.

Vacation Photos
I'm finally done with traveling for a while, and am planning on putting in some quality time in my studio and enjoying sleeping in my own bed for the rest of the summer. Here's a couple of photos from my vacation, there will be more over the next few days.
The first photo was taken from a park on top of Russian Hill in San Francisco. The beautiful views make the leg-killing walk up several very steep blocks worth the effort.
This photo was taken in the Marin Headlands, located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. That area used to be a military site; this photo was taken in an old battery. I like the bridge visible through the hole in the wall.

I'm Back!
I arrived home from my vacation last night. I have 12 gigabytes of vacation photos to go through, and I have to head out of town again tomorrow, so you might not see any of them for a few days. In the meantime, here's an abstract photo I shot last year. It's rust and paint on a steel pier, taken on a beach in Michigan.

Maui Sunset
This is likely the last post for a few days. I leave early Thursday morning for vacation. I'll have a computer and internet access sporadically on the trip, and I hope to post some fresh vacation photos, but probably not every day.
Here's a vacation photo from three years ago. I went to Hawaii in 2006 for the wedding of some friends. This photo is pretty much what you'd expect to see when you think of Hawaii vacation photos.
