Back From The Dead

Not quite a rear ago, I posted a photo of this house. Like this one, it was shot with my Holga camera while on a walk around my neighborhood. A year ago, this house was boarded up and seemingly abandoned. As you can see from the photo above, it's now occupied, and has a new coat of paint (and a new recycling bin!). It's a big old house, I'm glad to see it being taken care of.

Here's my photo from last year, for comparison.

Blurry Trcaks

Shot out of a train window last fall. The windows were tinted, which created an interesting color shift.

Empty

An empty lot, shot last summer with my Holga camera. I'm not sure if it's in Chicago or Blue Island, which sits just south of the Chicago city limit.

Wisconsin Cheese

Speaking of Wisconsin cheese, what about the rancid Limburger the governor of Wisconsin is forcing down people's throats?

Someone Title This One For Me

Shot last fall at an abandoned factory in Blue Island, Il. Anyone have an idea for a title?

Atomic City

I made this collage around 1989, for an exhibit somewhere (can't remember where). I've been dabbling a little in collage recently, but it's slow going. I'm trying to keep them purposefully simple, and not over think things, and that's proving more difficult than I expected.

Damaged

Made long ago (1993), part of a failed attempt at reticulating negatives. I'm thinking of doing a book of all 26 images on this roll of ruined film. I'd love some feedback on what you think of that idea.

Diamonds

I shot this while wandering around with my Holga camera last summer. I love mid-century architectural details, luckily, there's a decent amount of it close to where I live.

Hi Kids!

I made this for an assignment in a Photoshop class I took a few years ago. The assignment required combining two images. I took that literally, and inspired by some John Baldessari pieces, merged an old postcard with a vintage photo of a zeppelin.

Eye Again

I've previously posted photos of this sculpture shot in digital infrared and as a photo mosaic. Here it is again, shot with my reversed lens Kodak Hawkeye camera.

Shadow Portrait

I shot this in 1998 on the campus of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, when I was in graduate school. This was the first time I had used a Holga camera, and at the time was pretty unimpressed with the results. Now, I think it turned out pretty well.

We Survived

The great Chicago snowtastrophe has passed, and everything is returning to normal. Frigid, snow covered normal.

Snow Day!

So we're in the midst of the blizzard striking Chicago right now. It's actually kind of pretty outside, and it will be interesting to see what it looks like tomorrow. I'm just glad I don't have to go anywhere. My school wisely called a snow day for tomorrow.
